THE International Mounted Games Association (IMGA) European Championships are set to return to Millstreet, Ireland, from July 28th to August 3rd, 2025. Hosted by the Mounted Games Association of Ireland (MGAI), the event will take place at the renowned Green Glens Arena.
The 2025 IMGA European Championships will feature both team and individual competitions in under 12, under 15, under 18 and open rider age groups.
Riders from England, Wales, Scotland, Northern Ireland, Austria, Belgium, France, Germany, Sweden, Switzerland, and from Australia, New Zealand and South Africa are entered, ready to showcase their skills in a series of thrilling mounted games. There will be 300 competitors and their supporters descending on Millstreet for the week of competition.
The event will also include an opening ceremony with a mounted parade through the streets of Millstreet, exemplifying the community’s enthusiasm and support for the championships. MGAI are thankful to the sponsors - Savills Ireland, Precision Microbes, O’Brien’s Saddlery Bandon, 4ORM and Agria Insurance who are the sponsors of the under 15s European team Championship competition.
The Mounted Games Association of Ireland recently held their trials which were hugely competitive:
Ireland Under 12: Fern O’Reilly, Florence Bannon, Poppy Bannon, Ed Ladd Finn and Yasmin Sweetman (Trainer Martine Hennessy).
Ireland Under 15: Marina Bolton, Grace Mangan, Charlotte Weld, Hazel Lucey, Robyn O’Reilly, Reserve Rachel Twomey (Trainer Aine Sharry and Peter McCarthy).
Ireland Under 18s: Nicky Bolton, Conor Buckley, Ross Warren, Daniel Callary, Harriet Mangan, Reserve Max O’Reilly (Trainer Aido Hanlon).
Ireland Open Team: Rachel Crowe, Libby Beirne, Aisling O’Leary, Amy Lucey, Lucy Hennessy, Reserve Ali McPhillips (Trainer Conor O’Leary).
Along with top competition, the 2025 championships will offer cultural exchanges and memorable experiences for all attendees.
There will be a welcome Irish night of entertainment on Tuesday, July 29th with entertainment provided by Liam O’Connor Musician and visiting countries are invited to host a table of their country’s traditional food.
The competition will conclude with nail-biting finals on Saturday, August 1st and a Gala dinner to celebrate. The event will be live-streamed across the world throughout the week.
