JUST a few weeks before Christmas and KR Equine Veterinary Services Ltd (based in Co Down) were not gearing up for the festivities, but were instead hosting a client evening on the topic of ‘Colic - From Stable to Surgery’, with Board-Certified Specialist Equine Surgeon John Ortega-McCormick of Anglesey Lodge Equine Hospital as guest speaker.

KR’s own vets, Chris Akkari and Gemma Elkin, gave presentations on colic, how cases are assessed and what treatment may be appropriate, before John spoke on when surgery might be required and showed some images and video footage to illustrate his points.

There was a great turnout of KR clients on the evening and it is safe to say that they left with more knowledge than they had arrived with. KR Equine Veterinary Services extend their thanks to all their clients who attended the evening; to their team who pulled everything together, as well as a very special thank you to John Ortega-McCormack of Anglesey Lodge for sharing his invaluable insights on the colic cases he treats – including outcomes, prognosis, decision-making and more.
