ONE of the highlights in the trading halls of the Dublin Horse Show is the wonderful showcase of artists who are both well-known and new to the genre of equestrian, also mentioned elsewhere on this page.
Among the returning equestrian artists to the RDS last week was the visually impaired Clara Ryder, who has gained huge recognition for her work. Clara, who originally wanted to study veterinary medicine and work with horses, has a rare condition called Achromatopsia which is an inherited retinal disease causing extreme light sensitivity.
She hasn’t let it stop her love for painting and, this year, was spotted working on a painting of Noel Mullins’ hunter Walter on her stand during the horse show.
