THE Rathfarnham Branch of the Irish Pony Club held an inter-branch show jumping competition last Sunday at the National Horse Sport Arena, where Gay Parkinson judged the action over a course built by Shane Brooks. Prizes were sponsored by Summit Lifts, Zintek and Reverie Developments.
This was Rathfarnham’s third time to host such a show and, while they would have liked a larger entry from other Branches, they were delighted to welcome members from the Bray, Louth, Meath, Monaghan and Ward Union Hunt Pony Clubs. The aims of the show were to give riders confidence in a welcoming environment and as practice before Area qualifiers.
The hosts won five of the day’s seven classes, starting with Hannah Mulcahy, who claimed the honours in the cross-poles competition on Cora. She was followed by Anabelle Murphy Mosley with Little Warrior (50cm), Clodagh Cross on Rathfarnham Bustamove (65cm), Georgia O’Donnell riding Annie (75cm) and Emily Butler with Sarco (90cm).
Emily Quinlan of the Meath Branch landed the 80cm class with Carnegie Hall, while the Brays’ Eva McCraith was the winner of the 1m class riding Cluainin Robb.
