THE Irish Pony Club this week announced the names of those who will represent the organisation in the two Pony Club Nations’ Cup competitions at next week’s Aspen Cooling Osberton International Horse Trials.

The team for the PC105 Nations’ Cup comprises Carlow’s Alanah Bailey (Kilpatrick Sparkle), Kildare’s Gloria Queally (Glenrock Lisa) and Eliza Wardle (Kinamara Bright Star), Killinick’s Aoife Griffith (Electric Bailey) and Meath’s Caoimhe Owens (Luke Edge Cruiser).

Those who have been selected for the PC110 Nations’ Cup are Golden Vale’s Leo Cleere (Norebrook Fortuna), Killinick’s Amy Griffith (Wex Gal), Laois’s Megan Adams (Olivers Girl), Westmeath’s Evita Thomsen (Michaels Pick) and Wicklow’s Sorcha Vickers (Interface).

When announcing the teams, the IPC thanked “the following for their generous support and sponsorship - the Eventing Ireland Youth Committee, Eventing Ireland, the George Mernagh Memorial Fund and a private sponsor.

“The George Mernagh fund was set up to develop, support and foster youth participation in the equestrian sector. It supports initiatives which reflect George’s lasting contribution to the sport and his commitment to its future.

“We would also like to thank Fran Rowlatt-McCormick and Carol Coad, for all the work they do to make this competition happen, and thanks also to Debbie Byrne and Becky Cullen, who are the chefs d’equipe.”

The names of those due to represent Area 17 of The Pony Club (Northern Ireland) were announced last month. Good luck to all.
