MANY Branches of the Irish Pony Club and Area 17 of The Pony Club were represented by winning members at last weekend’s Northern Ireland Festival at the Cavan Equestrian Centre with North Kilkenny dominating the Horse of the Year Show qualifiers.
Here we are specially talking about Nancy Lyons Teehan who bagged four golden tickets, two in the plaited working hunter section on the five-year-old Dartans Séoda Bán (133cm) and Newydd Lady Marmalade (143cm), and a similar number in the Mountain and Moorland division where she again rode Newydd Lady Marmalade (143cm) and also Twnffyd Carys (122).
Away from the HOYS qualifiers, where her mother Louise Lyons bagged the horse ticket on Clandeboye, Nancy won the pony performance championship on Dartans Jumping Jack Flash with whom she was also reserve in the novice working hunter pony championship.
Her sister Robin partnered Twynffyd Carys to win the Festival cradle stakes and she also won the restricted nursery stakes on Dartans Séoda Bán. The girls’ brother Nicky George also recorded a win in the cradle stakes on Twynffyd Carys and all three will be in search of more success tomorrow at the Kildare Branch’s Fun Minimus and Tetrathlon when three of the winning NIF ponies will make a quick reappearance.
