THE Area 5 Show Jumping Classic qualifier hosted by Carbery Hunt Pony Club took place last Sunday and attracted an excellent turnout of competitors. The event was held at Maryville Stables, whose outstanding facilities provided the perfect setting for the day’s competitions.

Classes ranged from cross-poles to 1.20m, giving riders of all levels the opportunity to participate. It was particularly encouraging to see so many young riders gaining valuable competition experience while enjoying the day with their friends.

Winner of the 1.20m classic was Ella Lombard (Duhallow); the 1.10m was won by Madeline McSweeney of the Carbery Branch. West Waterford’s Shauna Ní Riordaín won the 1m, while Duhallow’s Olivia Roche landed the 90cm class.

The organisers wish to express their sincere thanks to Maryville Stables for their hospitality, the many volunteers who gave their time to ensure the smooth running of the event, and the event sponsors - O’Brien’s Saddlery Bandon, Bluegrass Horse Feeds, Mervue Equine and TRI Equestrian - for their generous support and prizes. The club who had the most combined scores on the day were Carbery Hunt Pony Club.
