MANY congratulations to former Kilkenny Hunt Branch member Caitlin Grant who, on her fifth start, recorded her first win in a point-to-point last Saturday at the re-scheduled Wexford Foxhounds’ meeting in Ballinaboola.
There were just four runners in the seven-year-old and upwards maiden for novice riders where Caitlin scored by 10 lengths on the Walk In The Park gelding Occupational Force who is trained for her father Colm by David O’Brien. During her Pony Club days, Caitlin took part in all Branch activities on an unraced home-bred thoroughbred.
The 17-year-old now works full-time for Kiltealy trainer Colin Bowe as does her older sister Jessica who, too, was once a Kilkenny Branch member.
At the Scarteen Foxhounds’ point-to-point at Comea on Sunday, there were first wins between the flags for one-time show pony rider Chloe Gunn and former show jumper Tristan Merrigan.
