OVER the two days of last weekend’s Area 17 Barrier Animal Health spring festival at Castle Irvine, Necarne, some members took part in a league covering all three disciplines. This was dominated by one Branch, the North Downs, and by sisters Zara and Molly Reid.
Zara ran out the winner on 294 points with the Irish Sport Horse gelding Major Cross, an 11-year-old Insatiable gelding she warmed up for this challenge by finishing eighth, on her dressage score, in the 26-runner EI90 at Tyrella the previous Saturday. On 291 points, Molly filled the runner-up slot with the Connemara gelding Pine View Ice Cool, a dun six-year-old by Ice And Fire d’Albran.
Congratulations Kitty
There was plenty of cheering among members of the Iveagh Branch of The Pony Club at Castle Irvine, Necarne last Sunday when they learned that another of their members, Kitty Cullen, had won the Tredstep Ireland CCIP2-S class at the Ballindenisk international horse trials on Lisa Donnan’s 10-year-old Connemara gelding Greenaun Russel.
