THIS weekend, Tattersalls Ireland will be the focus of attention as the popular Co Meath sales complex is once again the venue for the Irish Pony Club Connolly’s Red Mills eventing championships, qualification for which started back in mid-May.

Dressage, in 13 arenas, takes place today only. There are three show jumping rings where, this afternoon, those competing at Intro Intermediate, Junior and Under 12s level will tackle this phase while the Open and Intermediate members compete over the cross-country course. Tomorrow, the Intro Intermediate and Junior cross-country is due to start at 8.30am. The cross-country flag will drop for the Under 12s at 10am at which time the Open and Intermediate show jumping is due to start.

While competing for Connolly’s Red Mills championship titles, some will also be hoping to improve their chances of winning one of the series league prizes sponsored by Foran Equine or one of the best turned-out prizes sponsored by Carr & Day & Martin. It’s going to be very busy!
