THE 2025 Foran Equine leagues, based on season-long results at Connolly’s Red Mills Irish Pony Club eventing qualifiers and at the championships themselves, concluded on Sunday at Tattersalls Ireland where double points were on offer.

Having won the Open title, Co Limerick’s Ben Buckley brought up a double by landing the section’s league on Elsbeth Kennedy’s Irish Sport Horse gelding Tullabeg Flamenco (28 points) with United Branch member Isabel Fitzgerald close up in second on OLS Pixie Hollow (25).

Given her numerous appearances and great results, it wasn’t too surprising to see Keira Crowther claim the league honours at Intermediate level on her mother Clare’s 15-year-old appaloosa gelding Tomoka Spots. This combination finished third in the Intermediate combined training championship at the Dublin Horse Show earlier in the month.

A team arena winner at the weekend for the Killinick Branch, Crowther comfortably topped the league with 64 points to her credit. Sunday’s individual championship winner, Sorcha Vickers, finished second on 47 for Wicklow with Interface. Also representing Killinick, Owen Carroll was third on Untouchable Royale (26), a point ahead of the second team arena winner, Duhallow’s Victoria Roche riding Glenomra Andy.

Grace Day, a member of the Killinick Branch, concluded the IPC eventing campaign with two league victories to her name, the first being the Foran Equine Intro Intermediate league, which she topped on 46 points with the thoroughbred gelding Ask Jim.

North Kilkenny’s Leah Dooley finished second in the league with Emly Rose (39), having filled the same position earlier in the day in her arena behind the league’s third-placed combination of Carlow’s Niamh Robin on Broomfield Banner (32). West Waterford’s Caoilainn Foley, who won the second arena at Tattersalls on Monatrea Xavier, finished fourth in the league on 29 points.

Winner of the Intermediate championship class on Sunday was Sorcha Vickers on Interface, who was also second in the Foran Equine league \ Nicole Doyle/meldoyle.ie

Junior league

Emily Flavin-Redmond has had a long and busy season with her mother Debbie Flavin’s Connemara gelding Ballyerk Paulo, starting at the Stepping Stones to Success league at Wexford Equestrian back in April.

The combination failed to get into the placings in their Junior equitation championship at the Dublin Horse Show but here Flavin-Redmond and the Ballybeg JJ seven-year-old won the Junior league on 45 points, closely followed by an arena winner on Sunday, the Wicklows’ Laragh Louise Molloy who amassed 43 points with HB Miss Kizzy.

Having recorded much the better result at Tattersalls, Tipperary’s Sarah Kennedy (Lough Eyes Lad) claimed third place ahead of the Ward Union’s Lillian Ward (Killea Peril) although both rounded off the league with 28 points apiece.

Those tasked with looking after the results at Tattersalls Ireland at the weekend had to take a number of looks at the Under 12s competition as they could only decide who won and placed second in the league by a countback of their second place finishes during the season.

The winner, on 31 points, was Bray’s Emily Grimes on the hugely-experienced Millridge Buachaill Bui, a 20-year-old ISH gelding by Templebready Fear Bui. Second, having amassed 31 points on Samarah, was Isobel Landy whose Tipperary teammate Anna Kennedy, who set the early fractions, finished third with Savanose Bobby (29)
