International polo meets high style

THE All Ireland Polo Club welcomed the Zambian Polo team to their hallowed ground last weekend, where they met with old friends as AIPC teams have visited Zambia Polo Club many times in the past.

Saturday saw the Zambia team of Sally Jellis, Rosamund Vincent, Adrian Friend and Tristan Clayton take on the Irish team of Eamonn Laverty (President AIPC), Caroline Keeling, Harry Miller and Harrison Boyd with Zambia coming out on top. The club and visitors were treated to a Glam Hatters Afternoon Tea in the company of Mrs Glam herself, Michelle Regazolli Stone, along with husband Mark Stone, one of Ireland’s top players! Style and entertainment were to the fore, with dancing into the small hours. Day two of the Zambian visit saw the visiting team play against another Irish team consisting of Siobhan Herbst, Colm Kelliher, Mark Stone and Tom Small, with the Irish team taking the win of the Lexus cup, presented by Ian Corbett of Lexus.

Guests on the day included fashion designer Sonya Lennon among others. Today sees the start of the final tournament of the season, the Pakistan Cup, and tomorrow (Sunday), a host of Irish horse racing stars will pick up their polo mallets in aid of the Down Syndrome Centre and guests will attend a sold-out event featuring a fabulous lunch from Tankardstown House.
