FOLLOWING reader queries regarding the recent AGM of the Ulster Region of Showjumping Ireland, SJI CEO Pat Hanly has confirmed the new Ulster Region committee will be subject to national Board approval as part of due process.
“The nominees for and those elected to the Ulster committee will be submitted to the new Board for approval when it meets,” he stated.
The committee is as follows: President - Gerry McCloskey, Chairman - Des McFadden, Vice Chair - Andrew Thompson, Secretary, measuring - Joyce McConnell, Treasurer - Karen McLeigh, National Competitions rep - James Kernan, National pony and vets rep: Aldyth Roulston, Course builders - Alan Lynch, Child Protection and Judges - Ann Friel. The remaining committee members are: Derek Reid, Neal Doherty, Sharon Conlon, Beverly Irwin, Paddy Ward, Tracy Kelly, Tina Rouke, Edna Gamble, Katie Bell, Louise Smith, Eamonn Rice, Myrtle Peak and Nicole Galbraith.
With regard to queries around the election of indviduals who were involved in a recently settled court case with SJI, Mr Hanley could only confirm that “any new nominations must be approved by the Board”.
“I can confirm several meetings of the Board recently took place,” he said. “Unfortunately, I cannot currently comment on certain items from those meetings. The Ulster Region had held its elections prior to the recent meetings of the Board. Regional meetings are currently concluding, and a new Board of Showjumping Ireland will meet shortly.”
