RENOWNED Irish show jumper Harry Marshall of Ballyclare, Co. Antrim, died last Friday, March 20th. Harry was the much-loved husband of Dawn, devoted father of Kris and Debi (partner Eugene), father-in-law of Savannah and loving Opa of Macie and Jaxon.
A service of celebration for Harry’s life will be held in Antrim and Newtownabbey Crematorium this Friday, March 27th at 1pm. House strictly private.
Harry had an impressive career, winning as a rider and breeder at the Dublin Horse Show and winning Grands Prix all over Ireland and Europe. He was named Ireland's first national show jumping champion and was previously named an RTÉ Sporting Personality of the Year. Last August, aged 71, he saw off stiff competition from two of Ireland's top young riders to win a 1.35m Grand Prix at Cavan riding his own Tango E.T
Condolences have flooded in for the popular character. Horse Sport Ireland described Harry as "a mentor and friend who excelled in the arena and touched many lives outside of it."
Showjumping Ireland described him as "one of Irish show jumping’s best known ambassadors throughout the World".
"He was a huge supporter of the National Circuit and supported shows all over the country. The show jumping World will the poorer for his loss," SJI said.
Bernardo Moura of Mouratours shows described him as "always present, always supportive, always smiling".
"His passion, his kindness, and his spirit will remain with us, in every arena, every moment, every memory," he said.
