Madam,
We would like to take the opportunity, on behalf of all the parents and young riders who travelled to Scone Palace International Horse Trials with Tiggy’s Trust, to say a very heartfelt thank you to Jane and Frank Hancock for making such an incredible experience possible.
To bring 23 young riders and their ponies and horses to Scotland for six nights was an enormous undertaking, and the care, thought and enthusiasm that went into every detail was truly remarkable.
From the two-day training camp at Punchestown, where the children were so generously supported and encouraged, to the journey to Scotland and the week at Scone, Jane and Frank created something very special. Their enthusiasm, kindness and wisdom gave the children confidence and created a wonderful sense of team and friendship.
A huge thank you also goes to the wonderful team of coaches - Sue Smallman for dressage, Heather Coyle for show jumping, Becky Cullen for guiding the children through all three phases, and Alan Hatton for the Games. Their expertise, patience and encouragement were invaluable. The Tiggy’s Trust marquee became a little home from home at Scone, beautifully decorated with twinkling lights, yellow flags for Tiggy’s favourite colour and Irish flags. With all the children proudly wearing their green gilets bearing Tiggy’s name, we certainly made an impression.
A special thank you must also go to Lorli and Michael Higgins, and Adrienne Daly, for all their hard work in the kitchen and for keeping everyone so well fed throughout the week, and to Larry, Tom and the team in Mullins Transport for doing such a fantastic job getting all the ponies and horses safely to Scotland and home again.
So many parents and children also mucked in and helped wherever they could, making the whole experience feel like a real community.
And what a week it was. There were ribbons, achievements and plenty of proud moments, but the greatest success was seeing 23 young people enjoying themselves, supporting one another, making new friends and coming home with memories they will treasure for years to come. Such lovely prizes and gifts for all the kids from Dapple Equine, Red Mills, PC Racewear, TRI and many more. Jane and Frank have taken something born from unimaginable sadness and created a legacy that gives young people opportunity, confidence, friendship and joy. We feel incredibly privileged that our children have been able to be part of it.
Thank you, Jane and Frank, for everything you do for these young riders and for keeping Tiggy’s wonderful spirit alive in such a positive and inspiring way. A mighty flame truly follows a tiny spark.
Yours etc.,
The parents of the Tiggy’s Trust Scone 2026 riders
