ON MONDAY last, pony riders got their chance to battle it out in their finals at Mullingar International. In the 148cm 1.25m Masters, there was €2,500 along with the Maybell Molly Trophy up for the taking in the Ballynegall Feeds sponsored class.
The win went to Munster as Sam Widger partnered Little Smithe to a clear in 32.79. The pair also took the 148cm Speed class on Friday when he came home in 57.35. Taking the runner-up spot was Alice Moloney and Cqs X Factor when they came home with nothing to add in 34.09.
Juliette McIntosh and Dunard Trixie Mix took third, when clear in 36.87, while in fourth was Padraig Howley (Jnr) and Lahorna You Two, clear in 39.60. Bonnie Loughrey and Infinity finished as fastest of the four faulters in 40.51 for fifth, ahead of Ted Fagan and Ballyfore Rosie, 12 faults in 36.65.
138 Masters Final
Claiming victory in the 138cm division was Cliodhna McEvoy and Etoile Des Chesnaies when they were fastest of four double clears in 29.37. This pairing also claimed the 138cm 1.10m Masters Speed class on Friday. McEvoy was chased home by Jack Dore and Hashtag Alis, who clocked 31.82. Fearne Tivy and Kocknahorgan Velvet opted for the safe route and it paid off as they came home in 36.11 for third. Last of the double clears in a time of 37.80 was Ben O’Connor and Solea for eventual fourth. Serena Brown put in a very fast round with Lyra Lady, but it came at a price as they had one ground in 33.61 for fifth place. Alayna Hawkins and Ballyduff Lad finished on eight faults in 28.94 for sixth place.
128 Masters Final
Leading the victory lap in the 128cm 1m Masters Final was Chloe Clarke and Brandon Reepicheep when she galloped home with nothing to add in 28.37.

Julia Sheehan came closest to catching the winner, when she lodged a clear with Heartbreak Charlie in 30.20. Slotting into third place was Jack Derwin and Deelside Dolly in a time of 30.53. DJ Kent and Creevagh Pringles, cross the line 30.91, which saw them take fourth. Daniel McKeon-Devaney had one on the ground with Knockash Lady Bird, but their time of 28.78 saw them take fifth, ahead of Tim Hawkins and Carraghy Apollo, who also had one on the ground in a time of 29.66. Winner of the 128cm Masters Speed class on Sunday was Annie Hughes Kennedy aboard He’s a Touch of Magic when they clocked 52.12.
128cm U10 Masters Final
Claiming the 128 U10 Masters Final was Emily Mason and Shining Star when they left nothing to spare and came home clear in 29.32 seconds in what was a six-way jump-off. Saoirse Murphy and Sparkling Lackaghmore Katie followed closely behind, delivering a clear in 32.65 for second. Jack Derwin was back in the ribbons, taking third with Ginger Rodgers, when they were the fastest four faulter in 27.86. Derwin also took fifth with Sparkles In the Rain, finishing on eight faults in 27.97. Dividing Derwin’s placings was Jarry Kelly and Ashwey El Britaniko, on four faults in 27.88.
Taking sixth place was Lily Dunne and Parcglas Golden Venture after they had an accidental dismount. Winner of the 128cm 85cm speed class on Saturday was Emily Flavin and Parcglas Maid in Splendour, when they clocked 53.52.
