THE iconic Boomerang and Ruby young horse finals took centrestage at CSI2* Millstreet International Horse Show last Sunday. It was a show to remember for the Williams family, as they clocked up some impressive results. They ended the week on a high note, as Coen rode to victory in the Boomerang six and seven-year-old final. Riding Parc Kesha WSH, he led the victory lap when he delivered a clear in 35.75.

This six-year-old Irish Sport Horse mare was bred by David Williams and is by Kannan out of Ashton Ena. This is the second big win for this combination, having won at the Dublin Horse Show in the second qualifier.

Max Foley put in a gallant attempt with HHS Lexington, but had to settle for second, when the clock stopped at 36.03. Owned and bred by Marion Hughes, the seven-year-old gelding is by Luidam and out of the Cavalier Royal-sired dam Chantilly Lace. This combination won the seven-year-old DAFM Studbook Final in Mullingar.

Taylor Peare and BP Indiana took third with a clear in 36.27. Owned by Liam Nicholas and Catherine Burke and bred by GBBS, this mare is a six-year-old by Mylord Carthago. Camryn Clarke also found himself back in the ribbons, taking fourth with Kleio de Muse, when clear in 36.81. Bred by McFadden Equine, the seven-year-old mare is by I’m Special de Muse and is out of Legalands Rossas Girl. This combination finished second in the seven-year-old DAFM Studbook Final in Mullingar.

Rhys Williams added to the family haul, taking fifth with Boreas KPCM Z, when fastest of the four-faulters in 36.10. A six-year-old, this Zangersheide gelding is by Brunetti 6 and out of Angel Eyes Z. Lauren Adams also featured in this line-up, as she completed the top six with the seven-year-old Coconut BW, finishing on four faults in 36.21. Owned by Dale Adams, this mare is by Cardento and is out of the Toulon-sired dam Tuladai Della Caccia.

Millstreet Ruby five-year-old final

The Millstreet Ruby five-year-old final saw 40 qualified combinations battle it out over two rounds, with 12 delivering double clears. It was another good class for the Williams family, as Rhys claimed victory while Coen took fourth and fifth.

Rhys delivered the winning round aboard Parc Dakota, coming home in 36.46. This gelding was bred by Frank Cunningham and is by Catoki. Kian Dore added to his haul, taking the runner-up spot with the Stephen and Eilish O’Reilly-bred Creevyquinn SS Diamante, stopping the clock in 36.95. Eoin Brennan and the Michael Brennan-bred MHS Rule The World left nothing to spare, but his time of 37.10 saw him take third.

Coen Williams accounted for the next two placings, taking fourth with the Aaron Costello-bred Eldorado Van De Zeshoek-sired gelding Valentino JS, when crossing the line in 37.64. He returned to take fifth with the Garreth Cassidy-bred Conthargos-sired gelding GLC Mr President, coming home in 38.49.

Stephen Gibbons put in a great attempt with Mayfield Mr Dorado, but their time of 38.74 was only enough to see them take sixth. This Mayfield Sporthorses-owned gelding was bred by John Lowry and is also by Eldorado Vd Zeshoek.

Young Irelander Horse Final

On Friday, 20 finalists lined out in a battle to claim the Young Irelander Horse Final. Taking this coveted title was Emma Walsh’s Glorious Ambition, when awarded 75 marks. This mare was bred by Noel Walsh and is by Grand Cru vd Vijf Eiken x Lux Z.

Little stood between the final scores, with the Colm Kelliher-owned Teddy Minka B Z (Toemme de Regor Zx Chilli b) taking second place on 74.5. Third place belonged to the Donal and David Lynch-owned Ermitage Kalone-sired mare BS Alpha Optima on 74.0. Billy Daly’s Chacco Blue-sired home-bred, Newmarket Explosion, took fourth on 73.5.

Just 0.5 marks separated Seamus Carew’s Tyson-sired home-bred mare, Tulaigh Clover for fifth. Completing the top six was Deirdre Connolly’s gelding Lissacreasig Viva on 71.5 marks. Bred by Dan Nuckley, this gelding is by Tyson.

National Discovery Final

Taking the win in the National Discovery Final (Saturday) was Coen Williams on the four-year-old stallion Alonso V Twelve Oaks Z on a mark of 80.5. This stallion is by Aganix du Seigneur Z x Bisquet Balou C. It was another good day for the Williams family, as Rhys Williams took second with the Emerald-sired stallion Epifanio Van Twelve Oaks Z on a mark of 78.5. Accounting for third place was Taylor Peare aboard the Mr Quincy B-sired mare Madame Cougley on 77.5 marks.

Little separated the next placing as Gauthier Berger and the Comme Il Fault-sired gelding, HHS Caledonia took fourth for the Hughes stable on 77.0. Little divided the next spot as Aidan O’Brien and the Aganix Du Seigneur Z-sired gelding, All I want OG Z took fifth on 76 marks, ahead of Patrick Doyle on the Chellsini Z-sired gelding PC Original, one mark behind on 75 marks.
