THE fifth leg of the Jumpinaction.net and Citybreak Apartments Secondary Schools jumping league got underway on November 23rd at Killossery Lodge Stud on a cold but bright morning.

The novice individual top spot this week went to Olivia Duffy and Ballicious from Sutton Park in a time of 30.13 narrowly beating Alice Harten from Drogheda Grammar School in 30.48, who placed second for a consecutive week. Following hot on their heels was Tara O’Connor and Limerick Lass moving up to take third place in a close time of 31.87. The fourth slot this week went to Kate Teahan representing Maynooth Education Campus in 32.90.

Remaining in the placings and taking fifth position was Aine Mullan and Sir Archiebold riding for Enfield Community College in a time of 33.32. Kieran Dunne scored his first placing in the competition to take sixth place on Napoleon to complete the jumping.

Secondary teams

The Jumpinaction.net and Citybreak Apartments secondary school team class had 12 teams competing for the winning spot. Six schools made it through to the jump-off with a successful team from Scoil Dara/Athboy Community School moving from fifth to first place this week. The second spot went to Eureka Secondary School Navy, in the placings again, moving up from third. The third position this week went to Drogheda Grammar School moving into the top six, with fourth place going to Mac Dara’s Enfield, who won the last leg. Loreto Balbriggan and Maynooth Education Blue secured joint fifth this week in a hotly-contested competition.

Individuals

In the Jumpinaction.net and Citybreak Apartments 90/95cm open individual show jumping class, it was Rosie ridden by Maria Maye for Scoil Dara, who hit the top spot, moving up from third place, in a winning time of 31.18. Securing second position for the first time was Kieran Dunne and Rolo in a time of 31.80. The third place slot this week went to Charlotte Harten on Frenchpark Florence from Drogheda Grammar School moving up the placings in a time of 32.18.

Sophie Kenny moved down into fourth position on Mount Carmel Jodie in a time of 33.92, jumping for Scoil Dara. Kate Teahan and Pierce from Maynooth Education Campus slotted into fifth this week in a time of 35.38. Lastly, Daisy Redmond and Prince Macalla representing St Colmcille’s CS made the placings for the first time, to secure sixth in a time of 35.87.

Primary

The Jumpinaction.net and Citybreak Apartments Primary Interschools novice individuals had 13 competitive riders who braved the cold to jump in the morning, with 10 successful double clears. Lili Sue with her two ponies, Caspar and Flash, had a busy morning and secured two double clears for Rathgar Junior School. CJ Greene and Magic rode a careful round to go clear for Rathbeggan NS. Following in their footsteps, Niamh Maguire and Sandy Joy representing Kildalkey NS secured another clear round. The fifth double clear went to Eve Cullen and Toffee from Mount Anville Junior School.

Luke Murray and Rosie from Oristown NS rode a speedy but careful round to win a clear ribbon this week, which was followed by Nova Corrigan and Freckles who took the seventh double clear of the competition. Next, Aoibheann Smith rode Casper to go clear representing St Brigid’s, Meathill. The ninth clear was awarded to Doireann Collins and Milo jumping for St Patrick’s GNS and, lastly, Matthew Fox and his pony Ballyduff Babe took the 10th clear for Kilcoon.

Open Individual

The Jumpinaction.net and Citybreak Apartments Primary Interschools open individual had a number of brave riders all competing for the top positions. Taking the first and fourth places was Cian Greene from Rathbeggan NS, on his ponies Magic and Casper. Rhys Robinson rode a strong round to secure second place this week and Regan Hewitt took third place with Lucky, representing Mount Anville Montessori Junior School. Finishing fifth and sixth this week were Kilcoon riders, Sadie Connolly and Lily Dunne on their ponies Abbeylands Supreme and Parcglass Golden Venture.

Primary teams

The Jumpinaction.net and Citybreak Apartments Primary team competition had five teams battling it out and three teams made it into the jump-off. The winning team was made up of representatives from Kilcoon NS. Rathbeggan NS took second place this week and they were followed by the riders from St Patrick’s NS, St Andrews NS, St Mary’s NS and Gael Scoil Na Cillatook, who fought hard to secure third place. Fourth this week went to the team from Kilsaran NS and finishing in fifth place were Scoil Chaitriona, Oristown.
