THE final leg of the Jumpinaction.net and City Break Apartments Secondary Schools jumping league was held on January 25th at Killossery Lodge Stud. It boasted 120 competitors and a great buzz of excitement and anticipation in the air.
As every week, the competition started with the novice individual, where the top spot this week went to Alice Harten and Mandy, with a very fast time of 40.25 seconds, riding for Drogheda Grammar School. This win meant that Alice also topped the league with her consistent placings of two seconds, one third and two fourths, culminating with her win on the final day. Laurence Dunne of jumpinaction.net was there to present the prizes.
In the individual competition, Kieran Dunne riding Napoleon and representing Scoil Dara came second, Kate Teahan riding Pierce from Maynooth Education Campus came third, Tara O’Connor riding Limerick Lass for St Joseph’s Mercy Secondary school was fourth, Natalie Healy riding Misty came fifth and in sixth place was Robyn Lynch riding Moonlight Molly.
The league results were as follows - in first was Alice Harten and Mandy from Drogheda Secondary school, while joint second were Aine Mullen riding Sir Archibold and Robyn Lynch riding Moonlight Molly, both from Enfield Community College. All were very consistent in their league results over the seven weeks of this amazing competition.
Team Competition
The Jumpinaction.net and City Break Apartments secondary school team class had 10 teams competing for the winning spot. Competition was fierce, with just four of the schools making it through to the jump-off. Two out of these four were in contention for the league team prizes, so there was great excitement and all to play for. The joint team of Scoil Dara and Athboy Community School needed to place in these results to place in the league. Also in contention was the team from St Mac Dara’s Enfield, who were drawn to jump in third place and were actually in the lead going into the final.
Drawn first to go, Scoil Dara and Athboy Community School’s riders both went clear with an impressive time of 67.51 from the combined efforts of Kieran Dunne and Sophie Kenny. This team ended up winning the class.
The next team to go was Eureka Secondary School Blue team with Holly Lydon and Lana Carson, and they posted a double clear with a combined time of 72.72. St Mac Dara’s Enfield posted a great time of 68.85 from Marie Maye on Rosie and Lili Rogan Mills on Scala De L’Aulne putting them into second place in the competition and giving them five points for the league table.
The fourth team from Dunshaughlin, Toby O’Dwyer and Paddy McGowan, had an unlucky four faults. This meant that St Mac Dara’s coming second in the competition on the day gave them five league points, which was enough for them to take the top position in the league.
The Jumpinaction.net and City Break Apartments secondary school team final league results were as follows - in first was St Mac Dara’s Enfield (Marie Maye, Niamh Smith, Lily Rogan Mills and Áine Mullan), in second Scoil Dara and Athboy Community school (Emily Quinlan, Kieran Dunne, Sophie Kenny and Cian Maguire).

Individuals
The next class on the schedule was the Jumpinaction.net and City Break Apartments 90/95cm open individual show jumping class. Here, it was Rolo ridden by Kieran Dunne who took the top place, for Scoil Dara. Finishing second, some five seconds behind Kieran, were Maria Maye and Rosie, also for Scoil Dara. Third place this week went to Sophie Kenny riding Mount Carmel Jodie, again for Scoil Dara. Demi Wildman on Corbeagh Mirah took fourth, Kate Teahen on Pierce took fifth, while Lily Rogan Mills was sixth riding Scarlett.
The Jumpinaction.net and City Break Apartments 90/95cm open individual league was won by Sadie Lynch riding Grantstown Hannah and competing for Headfirst, while second was Maria Maye riding Rosie for Scoil Dara.

CJ Greene aged 7 from Rathbeggan National School won the primary novice interschools at Killossery on his brother Cian's pony Killiskey magic.
Primary schools
The Primary Interschools novice individuals had 10 competitive riders, of whom six jumped successful double clears. These included Aoibheann Smith on Casper, Niamh Maguire on Sandy Joy, CJ Greene on Magic, Luke Murray on Bingo, Maddison Donohoe on Benny and Pixie Webster on Blue. There were a lot of very promising riders in this class.
Top spots in the league for the Primary Interschools novice individual category were divided between the very consistent riders, CJ Greene for Rathbeggan National School, Aoibheann Smith for St Brigid’s and Niamh Maguire for Kildalkey. These three riders will share the lovely trophy, by having it for three months each.
The Primary Interschools open individual had 17 riders all competing for the top positions. Taking first place on the day was the ever-consistent Rhys Robinson riding Scarlet representing St Mary’s Boys’ School. Cian Greene, also as consistent as ever, took second place with Magic and was also third with Casper, competing for Rathbeggan National School. In fourth place was Ella Sharkey with her pony Flashy Devil riding for Scoil Colmcille Skryne. Fifth went to Siofra Maguire on Woodlandsmrsdoyle, while Sadie Connolly riding Abbeylands Supreme was sixth.
The Primary Interschools open individual league was won by Rhys Robinson, while in second was Cian Greene, both talented riders.
The Primary team competition had four teams battling it out on the day.
Only one of the teams made it into the jump-off. This was St Patrick’s NS, St Andrew’s NS, St Mary’s NS, Gael Na Cille and their clear rounds also ensured them the winning of the league. Sadie Woods and The Mighty Man, Fionn Regan and Carrigans Tabragh, Nancy Caffrey and Caetharlia Freddie and Ruth Duffy and Mountainy Man were the combinations whose consistent performances during the league saw them win in the end. Well done to these four riders.
Second place in the team competition were the riders from Kilcloon National School: Kaela Leamy on Annie, Sadie Connolly on Abbeylands Supreme and Rhys Robinson. Third place went to Rathbeggan National School with their team of Edith Neary on Izzy Wonderful, Holly Williams on Charlie, Joe Ledwith on Bushypark Charlie and Tucker Freyne on Blau. Fourth went to Scoil Chaitríona Naofa and Oristown with Clodagh Carry, Luke Murray with Rosie and Nova Corrigan with Freckles.
