Ryan made a good start at the five-star Oslo Horse Show last Wednesday, when finishing as runner-up in the two-star 1.40m two-phase class on board the eight-year-old stallion Million’s Grey. A large starting field of 66 was reduced to 45 for the second phase, with 32 of those completing double clear rounds. Ryan’s time of 30.45 was just over a quarter of a second behind Norwegian winner, Jenny Krogsaeter on Quana van Klapscheut (30.19).
Saturday’s five-star 1.45m speed class saw a win for the 12-year-old Irish Sport Horse gelding, WKD Toronto, bred by Joe Sloan. Partnered by Sameh El Dahan (GBR), who co-owns the horse with Joanne Sloan-Allen, the pair jumped clear in 59.56 seconds - more than a second ahead of their nearest challenger, Gerrit Nieberg (GER) on Solaia, who had to settle for second place in 60.80. Jessica Burke finished just outside the top 10 with Good Star du Bary.
The two-star 1.40m Accumulator class on Sunday was won by another Irish Sport Horse, WKD Aimez Moi, owned by the partnership of Joanne Sloan-Allen, who bred the 15-year-old mare, and Sameh El Dahan, who rode the horse into first place.
