SATURDAY’S Young Horse one-star seven-year-old 1.35m class saw two Irish riders on the podium at the two-star fixture at Cluny in France, as Jessica Burke took the runner-up position on Rial’s Varinjo and Shane O’Reilly placed third on Bossa Nova Boy. There was a home win for Eddy Seguin Maure on Java’s Queen Numenor.

International show jumping ran at Cluny from last Thursday until Sunday. Thursday’s Young Horse one-star six and seven-year-old 1.25/1.30m class saw Burke on Rial’s Varinjo, Mark McAuley on Nevada and O’Reilly on Bossa Nova Boy (ISH) among the joint winners. O’Reilly then placed 10th in the two-star Big Tour 1.40m class riding Lancer Luck (ISH).

On Friday, Burke rode Rivella de la Liniere into eighth place in the two-star Big Tour 1.45m class from a start list of 79. Meanwhile, the Amateur Medium Tour 1.10m class saw Stefano Alfredo Hernandez Ortega place fourth for Ireland out of 44 starters.

McAuley rode Che van de Mullegracht Z into 10th place in the 57-strong one-star Medium Tour 1.25m class, while O’Reilly and Billy Santandiago placed fifth in the Medium Tour 1.30m class of 55 starters.
