LOUTH’S Mark McAuley was the sole Irish representative at the three-star fixture at St Tropez-Gassin in France over the weekend and he secured a number of top-10 placings.
McAuley got off the mark in Thursday’s Young Horse one-star seven-year-old 1.30m class, when he was among the joint winners, after jumping a clear round on the stallion Javelot d’Elle.
The rider then placed eighth in Saturday’s 54-strong three-star Big Tour 1.45m two-phase class with l’Arc En Ciel Z, when they jumped double clear in a second phase time of 26.75. Italy’s Emanuele Gaudiano on Vasco 118 won the class in 25.58.
McAuley had a podium finish in the two-star Small Tour 1.40m jump-off class on Sunday, when he rode Ginko du Rouet into third place from a start list of 56. The Irish man stopped the jump-off clock in 38.30, which was almost two seconds behind Italian winner Elia Simonetti on Li La Bo, who clocked 36.33, while Arthur Le Vot (FRA) on Irreelle de Talma slotted into second place in 37.45.
