WHILE there were no Irish riders in the ribbons at the four-star show at Salzburg in Austria over the weekend, Northern Ireland-based British rider Sameh El Dahan had notable successes with the WKD Irish Sport Horses, winning two classes at the fixture.
El Dahan got off to a good start in Thursday’s Amadeus four-star Opening 1.40m speed class, when he rode the Joe Sloan-bred 12-year-old gelding WKD Toronto, which the rider co-owns with Joanne Sloan-Allen, into fifth place from 75 starters, with a clear round in 65.62 seconds.
El Dahan then won Friday’s 29-strong Amadeus Horse Youngster Tour seven and eight-year-old 1.35m/1.40m class on board the eight-year-old gelding WKD Comme Je Peut, owned and bred by Joanne Sloan-Allen, when clear in 66.42.
The rider then steered WKD Toronto into the top spot in the Amadeus four-star 1.50m Masters speed class on Saturday, when they were best of the 12 combinations who jumped clear from the 45 on the start list.
