IRISH riders performed well in the 1.55m Grand Prix at Bolesworth International on Saturday, claiming two places on the podium, with Derry’s David Simpson taking second place with Pjotr van de Kruishoeve and Galway’s Jessica Burke third on Good Star du Bary. Sean Monaghan placed sixth on board Toyger. The Marguerite Ryan-bred BBS McGregor (ISH)finished fourth with Abdullah Mohd Al Marri (UAE), while Laura Renwick (GBR) won the class with Marseille.

The second week of four-star competition commenced at Bolesworth International on Thursday, July 3rd. The 1.50m Grand Prix qualifier saw Simpson place third with Billy Fern, with Anthony Condon in fifth on Oviedo ‘S’, while Burke placed sixth in the day’s 1.40m two-phase class on board Romelus de Muze. Sven Joseph Hadley rode Quantino into sixth place in the 1.30m speed class.

Friday’s 1.50m Grand Prix qualifier saw Billy Twomey place fifth with Jumping Jack van de Kalevallei, while Monaghan on Be Oboe finished seventh in the 1.40m speed class.

Sunday’s Mini-Major class saw an Irish one-two, when Hadley accompanied Scarlett Wade into first place, followed by Condon and Hector Condon in second. Hadley also took seventh place along with Rosie Collins.

The 1.45m jump-off class saw Burke finish as runner-up on Romelus de Muze, followed by Monaghan riding Tiberio Della Caccia in third, while the day’s 1.35m two-phase class saw Hadley ride Quantino into seventh place.
