THE 2026 Winter Spectacular Show Series at the World Equestrian Center at Ocala in Florida continued with three-star action last week, with Irish riders featuring in the placings.
The three-star $32,000 1.45m Winning Round class on Friday saw Jonathan Corrigan finish on the podium in third place with Darius De Kerglenn, when they jumped double clear in a Winning Round time of 38.96. Nicholas Dello Joio (USA) won the class on board Cornet’s Cambridge in a time of 38.10, followed by Francisco Goyoaga Mollet (ESP) on Stakato Cornet in second (38.81).
Robert Blanchette continued his run of form when winning Friday’s 27-strong $1,000 1.35m Jumper class with Julius Caesar II S and went on to place sixth in the three-star $120,000 1.50m Grand Prix on Saturday with Chardonnay. The class was won by Aaron Vale (USA) on Helios Du Moulin, who took home the $36,000 top prize.
Myakka City
Meanwhile, international classes at week four of the 2026 Terranova Winter Series at Myakka City kicked off on Friday, March 6th with the $32,000 1.45m DNA Wild Welcome speed class, where Philip McGuane placed third on Coronado, with a clear round in 59.29, followed by David Blake on Gucci Des Embruns in fourth (59.60) - both riders hail from Clare. The top two placings went to Mark Bluman (COL) on S&L Eyes 4U in first in 56.64 and Amanda Derbyshire (GBR) in second in 57.94.
Runner-up
Friday also saw Blake finish as runner-up in the 1.35m Jumper final on board Elton PZ.
On Saturday, McGuane and Blake both finished on the podium in the $65,000 1.45m Akerman Grand Prix, with McGuane second on Coronado (36.34) and Blake third on Gucci Des Embruns (36.53). The Irish pair were only beaten by the aforementioned Derbyshire, who rode Cornwall BH to take the win in 35.82.
Blake secured another third place in the $20,000 Zycosan 1.35, TerraNova Prix riding Elton P Z.
