DENIS Lynch has had a very consistent run at the top level recently and this continued at the five-star World Cup show in Amsterdam over the weekend, when he and Vistogrand placed 10th in Friday’s five-star 1.50m Grand Prix qualifier, which saw 47 on the start list, 16 of whom jumped clear in round one to book a place in the timed decider. An impressive 11 combinations jumped double clear, with Willem Greve (NED) on Grandorado TN NOP proving unbeatable in a time of 33.29.
Lynch repeated his 10th place when riding Katja in Saturday’s 55-strong 1.45m speed class. The pair were among 19 clear rounds in the class, with a time of 57.84. Michael Greeve (NED) on Rubens took the win in 53.83.
There was another top-10 placing for Lynch, this time when riding Chicago into eighth place in the five-star 1.60m Grand Prix. There were 41 starters in the class, of whom 11 managed to keep all the fences standing in the first round; eight did so second time out to record double clear rounds. Lynch’s jump-off time of 46.12 couldn’t catch that of Dutch winner Frank Schuttert on Isis, who stopped the clock in 37.82.
An unfortunate four faults in the first round of Sunday’s five-star 1.60m Longines FEI Jumping World Cup class kept Lynch and Vistogrand out of the jump-off. The class saw 38 starters, with 12 combinations making it through to jump a second time. Five combinations completed without fault, the fastest of these being French man Julien Epaillard on Donatello d’Auge in a speedy time of 39.87.
