JOHN Tilley and Grantstown Luckington Lane recorded an all-the-way win in the Foran Equine EI100 at Frankfort on Sunday, when they completed on their leading dressage score of 25.8. This marked a first Eventing Ireland victory for Victoire von Schoen’s Lucky Luck-sired six-year-old mare, from her four recorded runs this season. Caitie Slater sat in second place after the dressage phase with Hans Kuehnle’s Tullibards Here And Now, but the addition of four penalties in the show jumping arena saw the combination drop to third on a total score of 30.8.

Sadhbh Bolger and Little Miss Grantstown swapped places with Slater, rising from third after dressage to eventual second, adding only 0.4 of a penalty for finishing one second over the optimum time across country to their dressage score of 27.8. This was a good result made all the more impressive for it being the Colandro-sired five-year-old mare’s first outing under Eventing Ireland rules. Patrick Whelan added to his tally here when finishing fourth and sixth with Sportsfield Flair and Kilbunny Tahiti respectively.

Beth Dooley topped the leaderboard in the seven-runner Overlander EI100(J) on only her second run with the Womanizer mare Spears, a former ride of her sister Sophie. Dooley shared the lead after the first phase on 31.3 with another Dublin bound combination, Ailbhe Hally and Gailes Lucky Charm, but while the latter added 2.4 cross-country time penalties to their total, Dooley and Spears kept a clean sheet to win. Avril Rea and DSL The Explorer were third here on 34.6.

The three-runner Kehoe Brothers Machinery EI100(P) saw Jonty Purcell secure his third consecutive win with his mother Melanie’s FHS Felicity, when they finished on a score of 32.3. Winners of the Mooreshill Equine Veterinary EI100 (Amateur), Rolline O’Callaghan and Splendid B, were another combination to maintain their current run of good form.

They added nothing to their dressage score of 28.3 to finish ahead of Joan Sinnott and Newtown Wilson on 31.8. Third-placed Vivien Leslie and Bonmahon Liberation also kept a clean sheet in the jumping phases to finish on their first phase mark of 33.8.
