ROBYN Dempsey recorded her first Eventing Ireland win last Saturday at Hazeldene where, completing on her dressage score, she landed the eight-runner EI100 (J) on her first public appearance with Lissyegan Cooley.

Chris Spratling’s 16-year-old Irish Sport Horse gelding by Martell out of an unraced thoroughbred mare by Mister Lord was previously campaigned by Kate Fahey and Bethany Burton.

A pole down show jumping in the three-runner EI110 (J) didn’t prevent Mya McMullen from notching up her third win of the campaign on the ISH mare CSF Quality Surprise, a 13-year-old by OBOS Quality 004.

There were no surprise winners in the dedicated pony classes. Anna Radford scored for the fifth time this season when landing an all-the-way success in the 10-strong EI110 on the 15-year-old ISH mare Essenar Double Dutch. Radford had further reason to celebrate this week when she and her mother Maria’s chesnut daughter of Luidam were named as members of the Irish squad for the European Pony championships in France.

There were only three starters in the EI100, where Victoria Grieves brought up a three-timer on the 17-year-old Anglo European Studbook-registered gelding Twister D’Euro; and, in the EI90, Darcy Turley made it four wins from six starts on the 19-year-old bay gelding Budore Mystic Legend.

It was the same in the Amateur ranks. Denis Currie recorded his fourth win of the season when leading throughout the five-strong EI110 on his ISH gelding Merlot, a 16-year-old son of Lancelot; in landing her fourth EI100 win of the campaign, Hollie Smith left her six rivals well in her wake as she added 1.6 cross-country time penalties to her excellent dressage score (19) with the 12-year-old ISH gelding Mr Diceman; a few cross-country time penalties in the EI90 didn’t stop Katie McKee from winning for the fifth time this season on the 11-year-old skewbald gelding Water Paint.
