AS a landowner, Britt Megahey had a disappointing week being forced to cancel next Saturday’s planned inaugural event at Island Lodge due to construction issues. However, as a rider, he had a good weekend, recording his second EI110 (Amateur) win of the season at Loughanmore on Saturday.

Riding his 11-year-old Irish Sport Horse gelding R Showman (Centre Stage - Boleybawn Saris, by OBOS Quality 004), Megahey picked up 0.4 of a time penalty over the coloured poles to win on a total of 32.2. Denis Currie, who was two seconds over the time across the country on Merlot, finished second on 34.6.

Ros Morgan led the eight-runner class after dressage (26.5) and a clear show jumping round, but dropped out of contention when Vos Supreme put in a stop at the bridge (fence nine).

Lucy Toombs recorded her first win of the campaign, when landing the 10-strong EI100 (Amateur) on her winning first phase score (21.9) with Alison Smith’s 18-year-old ISH gelding Bluestone Ice (Creevagh Grey Rebel - Danske, by Boiar Des Isles).

Hollie Smith moved up a place to second when also completing on her dressage score with Mr Diceman (23.5), leapfrogging Samantha Dale and Keonan Hero whose total of 23.7 included 1.2 cross-country time penalties.

Second after dressage with her five-year-old ISH mare Way With Words (Calamiro - Pendale, by Gold Well) in the 10-runner EI90 (Amateur), Anita Doherty was left in front when the flat phase winner on 30 penalties, Katie McKee, surprisingly retired Water Paint at the water (fence 10).
