ROSIE Coad, one of the lucky Eventing Ireland youth riders who enjoyed a training session session with the legendary William Fox-Pitt yesterday (Friday), led from the outset in the two-runner EI110(J) at Clyda last Sunday.
Riding Barberton (TB by Johannesburg) her dressage score of 29.8 and fault-free jumping phases saw her to hold onto the win ahead of Ciara O’Connor and Ashwood Rio (ISH by Dignified Van’t Zorgvliet). Coad and Barberton are riding a great wave of form having already won this season at EI100 level at Ballindenisk 2 and Tyrella 4 and the pair were second, behind O’Connor and Ashwood Rio, at Hillcrest on their debut together at EI110 level.
Ciara O’Keeffe and Sash Flight (ISH by Fast Morning Flight) had their second uncontensted win from their two outings this season at EI110 (Amateur) level.
In the EI100 Daragh Byrne took two of the top three places but was pipped for first by Sean Looney aboard Bonmahon Triomphant (ISH by L’Arc De Triomphe (OLD), bred by Richard Fitzgerald and owned by Lawrence Patterson, who led from the outset on 28.8 and had nothing further to add. Byrne was second with Urlanmore Survivor (ISH), finishing on their dressage score of 29.3 and he was third on Swatch Millie (ISH), finishing on their dressage score of 31.0.
Flawless performance
In the eight-runner EI100 (Amateur) Anthony Kenna delivered a flawless performance aboard his own Downstairs (ISH by King Cheetah bred by James Crennan), leading from the outset with an impressive dressage score of 30.3 and with nothing further to add. Ailbhe McGrath secured second place with Bridgemans Mojito, finishing on her dressage score of score of 30.8 while Noelle Reidy rounded out the top three with Ballinhassig also finishing on her first phase score of 31.3.
In the EI100(P) Lucy Hope Ryan delivered a super debut performance aboard Annefields Hector (CP by Burning Daylight), leading from the outset with an impressive, and untouched, dressage score of 29.8. This was the 12-year-old’s first time riding under Eventing Ireland rules and, according to dad Shane, she “loved the whole EI experience and meeting new people.. the cross-country track was big but she was delighted with how her ponies managed it”. Hope Ryan was also fifth with her other pony Pretty Patterns.
Hogan Byrne secured second place with AC Remus on their dressage score of 34.0 while Isla Coad rounded out the top three with Cornhill Storm (CP) on her dressage score of 36.3.
