IT was all about the Irish on Thursday in the Main Arena, when both international classes were won by riders from the home-side.
Young rider Tom Wachman started his winning ways early, taking the top spot in the Anglesea Speed Stakes aboard Hawaii in a time of 69.51.
Bryan Balsiger and Fais Toi Belle Du Seigneur were runners-up for Switzerland in 69.65. Denis Lynch and Katja were third in 70.10, while Pius Schwizer made it another one for Switzerland in fourth.
Going for gold
Fifth went to Jordan Coyle and For Gold, while Niamh McEvoy completed the line-up in sixth with Olympic GL FVD.
Jordan Coyle was once again in the winners’ enclosure on Thursday afternoon, when he rode Chaccolino to first place in the Cashel Palace Hotel Stakes.
Just six of the 40 combinations that lined out for this class made it through to the jump-off and Coyle proved best of these when he registered a time of 37.19 for the win.
McLain Ward and Imperial HBF were second in 38.56.
Third went to Rodrigo Pessoa and Major Tom in 41.18, while Cian O’Connor and Ironman took fourth as the fastest eight-faulters.
