COLOURED classes must be extremely difficult to judge and in Ring 1 last Friday afternoon at the Gallagher Dublin Horse Show that task fell to Britain’s Zara Owen (ride) and Patrick Lobb (conformation).

At the conclusion of the class, they had two quite different skewbald geldings topping their line-up. Their champion was the four-year-old Irish Sport Horse gelding MCC Lorenzo Luxe (Cormint - Indie Anna, by Sambesi), who was bred in Co Down by Patrick and Antoinette Milligan.

The winner was ridden for owners Sarah and Jonathan McCartney by Victoria Clarke Mullen, who finished second on him at Balmoral in May. Sarah intends to ride him herself next season.

The reserve sash was draped around the neck of the Louise Popa-owned, Alanna Popa-ridden Sir Dollar, who is now 18 years of age.
