THREE riders completed doubles at last Saturday’s Dressage Ireland North Munster Region show at Garranemore, where seven of the 16 classes were designated as qualifiers for next year’s new inter-regional finals.
At Preliminary level, nine combinations appeared before Ann Glynn (List 3A) in the DI6 where she awarded her highest overall score (69.62%) to Judith Wurmel on her Irish Sport Horse mare Dreamhill Doria.
In the eight-runner DI8 judged by Michael Moore (List 2A), Category 1 rider Wurmel achieved a score of 69.04 on her seven-year-old chesnut by Ballineen It’s William.
Rosemarie Ahern O’Gorman won the two Medium classes on her American thoroughbred gelding Khwarizmi. In the Moore-judged DI65, in which there were four starters, she and the 10-year-old Algorithms bay scored 67.81, while in the Glynn-assessed DI67, they saw off their sole opponents when achieving 66.21.
At Advanced Medium level, Clíona Ní Liatháin topped the Glynn-judged four-runner DI90 (66.47) and the Moore-judged two-runner FEI Junior Team Test (69.09) with her ISH mare MJI Lady Alceis, a 12-year-old bay daughter of Antaeus.
Eleven combinations appeared before Glynn in the Intro DIB class, where she awarded her highest score of the day, 72.35, to Emma English with the unregistered Grade A pony mare Misty Moon. Moore’s winner of the Preliminary DI5A in the short arena was Lucy Daly with the unregistered 22-year-old black gelding Sallybank Calypso (69.82).
In the Glynn-judged Novice DI21, Karen Burke marginally topped the scoring on 70% with her Westphalian gelding Secret Desire HW, a six-year-old black son of Secret.
Second there on 69.83, Claire McCarthy and her thoroughbred mare Kitchen Duty, a nine-year-old Vocalised bay, saw off three rivals in the Moore-judged DI24A when scoring 68.67.
At Elementary level, Moore had the larger field of six in the DI51, where his overall leaderboard was topped on 66.67 by Seren Fassnidge and the seven-year-old mare PLS Amaretto (Grand Marnier - PLS Coconuts, by River Casanova).
They had to settle for second (65.83) in the DI52, where Glynn awarded a higher score (67.64) to their sole rivals, Lucy Hope Ryan and the Dutch-bred Diamand Anfrody (67.64), a 15-year-old mare by Klein Roderjis Cocktail.
