DERMOT Cannon (List 1) judged four young horse classes at Saturday’s opening session of the South East Region’s NutriScience Classic at Ballyrogan Stud all of which were part of the DAFM Studbook Series.

The clear-cut winner of the three-runner six-year-old class on 75% was Foxy Lady R who, ridden for Sue Chadwick by Ruth Hayes, also landed the weekend’s NutriScience Medium championship on a two-day combined score of 139.73%. The tall, liver chesnut Westfalian mare is a daughter of For Gold.

Four combinations contested the four-year-old class where the narrow winner on 70.8% was the Emily Kate Robinson-owned, ridden and bred Irish Sports Pony mare In A Tizzy (by Alvaro Van Pachern).

The winner is the only produce listed on the Irish Horse Register out of the Moores Clover mare Tisrara Hill who, during her competitive career, amassed 286 Dressage Ireland points, 157 Show Jumping Ireland points and evented at pony 2* level.

There were three starters in the five-year-old class where Cannon awarded his highest score (77.2%) to the Susanne Lynam-owned, Hannah Lynam-ridden Dark Diamond, a tall Hanoverian mare by Donnersmarck.

As she continues her comeback from injury and a lengthy period out of the saddle, Rachel Dowley comfortably won the five-runner seven and eight-year-old class on GFL Nava (74%), her 2018 dark brown Dutch Warmblood mare by For Romance out of Daimy, by Florencio.
