THE North Munster Region of Dressage Ireland ran a show last Sunday at Ballycahane where summer league points could be earned in five of the day’s 17 classes, which were judged by Vida Tansey (List 1) and Helen Nolan (List 5).

The latter’s overall winner of the Preliminary 8 on 69.04% was Anna Dangerfield with Emer Howard’s eight-year-old Irish Sport Horse gelding Sammys Dream (Womanizer - Rineen Silver, by Fast Silver). Nolan also judged the Novice league class, the DI24A, where she awarded her highest score (69.83) to Judith Wurmel on her 2018 chesnut mare Dreamhill Doria (Ballineen Its William - Dreamhill Donna, by Huntingfield Rebel). There were six starters in both classes.

Wurmel and Dreamhill Doria were one of two combinations to appear before Tansey in the Elementary league class (53) but, on 61.83, they finished well adrift of Rebecca Mills and her Anglo European Studbook-registered mare San Tiaga (68.83), a tall, 12-year-old mare by San Liberty. Mills and the bay were also clear-cut winners on 71.96 of the non-league Elementary DI55, where they also faced just one rival.

Laura Haggar won both Tansey-judged Medium classes on Aisling Deverell’s home-bred 13-year-old ISH mare Annaharvey Firefly (Floriscount - Annaharvey Royale, by Cavalier Royale), scoring 68.13 in the league class (DI65) and 67.17 in the non-league DI73. Evie Kennedy was the sole starter in the Tansey-judged Prix St George league class riding her mother Maeve’s 23-year-old Spanish-bred gelding Cordobes XXXVI, a son of Jardon on whom she scored 65.74.

On her four-year-old Irish Draught gelding Rebel Bandit (Rebel Mountain - Bramblebrough Aisling, by Dunbeggan Grey Mist), Caroline Lynch recorded the day’s highest overall scores of both Nolan and Tansey in the Preliminary DI5A (70.36) and DI16 (74.80) respectively.

Tomorrow, in the neighbouring South Munster Region, they are running the final of their O’Brien’s Saddlery League at Maryville Stables.
