THE fourth leg of the Northern Region’s Healys Haylage summer league was staged last Saturday at Danescroft where the judging panel comprised Joanne Jarden (List 1), Vida Tansey (List 1), Joan Adrain (List 6) and Julie Green (British Dressage List 3).

Jarden awarded her highest score of the day, 68.71% in the 10-runner Elementary DI56a, to Lisa Ferguson riding her 16-year-old skewbald gelding Larkin with her second highest (64.34) going to Eilish Smith for her Advanced Medium BD4 test on the 12-year-old Johnson mare Sheepcote Jamboree.

Amelia Wheeler recorded a Junior double before Tansey on her seven-year-old piebald gelding Midnight Minty, scoring 69.79% in the three-runner Preliminary DI18 before seeing off a single challenger in the Novice DI21 where she achieved Tansey’s highest score of the day, 70.17.

Sixteen combinations appeared before Tansey in the Novice DI21 where her overall leaderboard was topped by Hollie Donnan on the Connemara gelding Killoughter Nugget (68.97%), a 19-year-old grey son of Ashfield Romeo.

Lisa Dundee recorded a non-restricted double on board Joy Lindsay’s 11-year-old part-bred Connemara gelding Arctic Light (70.21% in the Adrain-judged Preliminary DI18) and Patricia Connon’s home-bred ISH mare RoundThorn Nice N Easy (64.38 in the Tansey-judged Medium DI65).

The three combinations who topped the overall leaderboards in the three classes judged by Green were Laura Ritchie on the 20-year-old piebald gelding Wellview Lenny (79.73% in the four-runner DI Intro Test A), Sophie Cathcart riding the Irish Sport Horse gelding Genie, a seven-year-old son of Cruisings Ambassador (73 in the Preliminary BD4) and Aislinn Franklin with her eight-year-old warmblood gelding Shadowcaster (71.67 in the Novice BD4).

The Region’s NAF July Summer Festival takes place next Saturday and Sunday, July 12th and 13th, at Castle Irvine, Necarne.
