SIX riders completed doubles at last Saturday’s Dressage Ireland Northern Region show at Danescroft, where the judges on duty were Bernie Foley (List 1), Vanda Stewart (List 2) and Claire Ewing (List 5).
The youngest of the sextet was Pony/Junior event rider Kitty Cullen, who recorded the top scores in the Junior Novice DI27A (67.93%) and the non-restricted Novice BD4 (71.25) on Lisa Donnan’s 10-year-old Connemara gelding Greenaun Russel (Carracanada River - Greenaun Heather, by Castleside JJ Junior).
In the day’s best supported section, Karen McKee topped the overall scores in both non-restricted Preliminary classes (71.15 in the DI6 and 69 in the BD4) with her six-year-old Irish Sport Horse gelding Furstlove KPCM (Furstenball - Lovely Lady VDM, by Govenor).
Riding her 10-year-old ISH mare Lougherne Atlanta (Antaeus - Lougherne Gypsy, by Limmerick), Jane Allen-Collins recorded a cross-level double, being awarded the highest scores in both the five-runner Novice DI27A (67.59) and the Elementary BD4 (69.83), in which there were seven starters.
At Medium level, Mary Devine achieved the highest scores in both the two-runner DI67 (68.48) and the four-strong BD4 (65.47) on board her 14-year-old black gelding Kingsman.
Courtney Akkari brought Favorino (Follow Me - Freya, by Friedenfurst) to Danescroft for his seasonal debut in the Advanced classes, where the 11-year-old Warmblood gelding saw off one rival when scoring 65.57 in the DI100 before recording an uncontested victory on 68 in the DI101.
Nicole Peoples posted an uncontested double in the FEI Junior classes on Karen McKee’s 15-year-old Dutch Warmblood gelding VSH Gangster.
