THE South Munster Region of Dressage Ireland ran the sixth leg of their O’Briens Saddlery league last Thursday week at Ballindenisk, where there were three judges on duty - Marie Hennessy (List 2), Ciara Egan (List 4) and Una O’Donnell (List 5).
In half of the 22 classes contested, riders could earn valuable league points. Ten combinations appeared before Egan in the Elementary 53 where, on an overall winning score of 67%, Anna Dangerfield brought up a double at this level on her nine-year-old Ben Benicio gelding Bonito.
Grainne Murphy won both Hennessy-judged Advanced Medium classes, she and her 10-year-old Pura Raza Española gelding Flamenco CCLXXXV (by Beethoven EM) scoring 65.88 in the points-earning DI90. Josephine Delahoyde’s trip south paid off when she won two of the four Novice classes, including, on 67.41, the Egan-judged league class (DI39) with her new ride, the Hanoverian mare Viviana 7, a six-year-old brown daughter of Vivino.
Regional chair Ana Hughes won two of the day’s classes, including the Hennessy-judged Medium league class, the DI73, where, on 66.50, she and her 17-year-old Irish Sport Horse gelding Sligo Dark Knight (by Lancelot), saw off their sole rivals.
