AFTER the first of their two international events, the first leg of the South Munster Region’s O’Brien’s Saddlery summer midweek league, the Muskerry point-to-point on Sunday and the Duhallow Pony Club’s fun Minimus and Tetrathlon on Monday, it should be a haven of peace this weekend at Ballindenisk.
Not that the Fell family’s popular venue will be closed to equestrian activity but it will be a lot quieter as the second of Dressage Ireland’s early season training camps takes place at the Co Cork venue. Hopefully, all those attending will enjoy it as much as those at the camp in Castle Irvine, Necarne last Saturday and Sunday.
On the competition front this weekend, the North Munster Region is holding a show today at Garranemore while the Leinster Region is running a show over two days at the National Horse Sport Arena. Today’s programme caters for Trailblazers and those competing horses and ponies at Preliminary and Novice levels while those competing at Elementary level and above will take over tomorrow.
Next weekend will see three shows, with both the Midland and Western Region and the Eastern Region running on Saturday at Slieve Bloom Stud and Marlton Stud respectively. On Sunday, the Northern Region’s summer league gets underway when the first leg takes place at the Laurel View Equestrian Centre.
