IT was another win for Ireland, as Francis Derwin and Parvati Aeg left nothing to chance in Wednesday’s 1.45m International Winning Round Classic, galloping home in a blistering time of 43.52. Owned by Derwin, this 11-year-old mare is by Arezzo VDL and out of the Darco-sired dam Sabrienne. This was the second show of the season for this combination.
Derwin is no stranger to success in Balmoral, having won the 1.45m International Grand Prix with Flexi K in 2024. James Smith came closest to catching Derwin, when he partnered Tayvale Hunky Dory to a clear in 44.21. Francis Connors and the 11-year-old Dondoctro Ryal-sired mare, Carrigshawn Vendi Royal, took third, when clear in 45.21.
