THE final of the Mackey Ireland Waterford Tipperary SJI Amateur League came to an exciting conclusion at Dualla Show last Sunday. A total of four AA riders and four A riders booked their places in what can only described as an exciting jump-off.
Emma Walsh and the prolific Lux Like Diamonds once again showed how they claimed the overall AA title when taking the win in the final round. They came home clear in 31.95 seconds. Not happy with winning the AA section, Emma also took the runner-up spot with Carrow Cornet with another clear in 39.04.
Derrick Burke took third with Tyreda Chip, when they were fastest of the four-faulters in the jump-off in a very fast time of 34.53. Slotting into fourth was Annmarie Hynes and Busy Lizzie, four faults in the jump-off in 35.03. Runner-up in the AA overall league was Gary Flynn and Bahrain Prince, while Hannah McNiven (Hey You) and Niall Browne Vicomte DH Z finished joint third.
A Section
In the A section, it was Aileen O’Connor who delivered a clear round in 33.02 to take top honours. Taking the runner-up spot and the overall A title was Ruth Walsh and the ever-reliable Joes Charm. David Ryan with Moonlight Cruising had a super clear round in 39.98 to take third place. Taking fourth place was Des Hourigan and Rosscarberys Lucky Star, clear in 41.14. A strong performance from Hourigan and Rosscarberys Lucky Star saw them finish as runners-up in the league, ahead of Mary O’Meara and Kilconnel Pluto.
Speaking on behalf of the Waterford Tipperary amateur committee, Gary Flynn said: “We would like to express their gratitude to all competitors and sponsors Mackey Ireland, NutriScience Equine and the Widger family for making it another great league and they are looking forward to seeing you competitors out in force in 2026.”
