A LONGSTANDING favourite on the show jumping calendar, the Inistioge Show once again drew strong support this year, with impressive entries across all divisions.
In the Jack Ryan 1.35m Mervue Equine Leinster Tour, which included the seven-year-old Leinster Summer League, 31 went to post. Claiming this win was Mikey Pender and the Bravo Hughes-owned seven-year-old HHS Venice when he was fastest of three double clears in 37.36. Fresh from their win in Bannow and Rathangan, Jack Ryan and Calgrafi Dwb was back in the line-up, claiming the runner-up spot when they crossed the line in 37.50. Francis Connors and Carrigshawn Vendi Royal slotted into third place when clear in 38.54. Last of the double clears in a time of 39.71 was Tholm Keane and Yes Man, for eventual fourth. Young rider, Billy Sinnott and Ridge Douglas Lady put in a very fast time of 40.57, which proved good enough for fifth place. Leah Stack also had one on the ground with BP Tiny Dancer but in a slower time of 41.21 for sixth place.
1.20m division
Jack Ryan made no mistake in the Maxol-sponsored 1.20m division as he took the win with the seven-year-old Linali Davincis Destiny when he was fastest of 24 double clears in 27.36 seconds.
Eoghan Fahey filled second place with the Castlefield Breeding Farm-owned Castlefield Almighty, in a time of 30.85. Slotting into third was Jackilynn Breslin and Sligo Balou Lady, in a time of 31.19, ahead of Aaron Costello and Parc Violeta in a time of 31.84. Accounting for fifth was Oisin Magee and Landslide Aw in 31.87, ahead of Hannah Connors Smyth and Heldin (31.89).
1.10m Mervue
A total of 73 contested the Doody family-sponsored 1.10m Mervue which included the five-year-old Leinster League. Taking this win was Cian Byrne and the six-year-old Larina Cruise, clear in 28.87. A familiar face in this league, amateur rider Lisa Doyle (AA) and Ballinaguilkey Dignified took second with a clear in 29.99.
It was a good day for the Walshe family as Laura Walshe (AA) took third with Ballinaguilkey Heritage in 31.56. Placed second in Bannow and Rathangan, Marie Hartley and Nikita Van Het Heidenhof was back in the line-up, this time taking fourth when clear in 31.90. Accounting for fifth place was Joanie Walsh and Bellelake Sunrise in 33.65, while in sixth was John Murray and Mhs Dupont (36.04).
There were joint winners in the four-year-old class with only two clears being delivered. Patrick Codd and his own Danny Digro and Tholm Keane and Glasheen Gunner kept the poles in place.
Danny Digro, bred by Bernie Codd, is a gelding by Dignified Van’t Zorgvliet out of the Belline Tynagh Gold-sired dam Belline Breeze.
Glasheen Gunner is owned by High Sierra Farm and was bred by Timothy O’ Sullivan; he is by Zavatar F out of the Quidam Junior sired Glasheen Quidam.
