KILLCARRICK Riding Club hosted a bumper double day on Sunday in Greenogue Equestrian Centre, with over 200 entries across show jumping and dressage for the AIRC West Leinster Region leagues.
The weather also cooperated on the day, and riders in the afternoon requested jacket removals, which were duly granted by the judges. The event ran across four arenas in Greenogue, with the dressage taking place in the indoor and show jumping in the main arena, with the warm-up at one end. Dressage was judged by Alison Thorne and Lindsey Brady, with show jumping judged by Gaye Parkinson. Scribing, call-up and arena parties were by the trojan team of Killcarrick volunteers.
Show jumping classes ranged from cross-poles up to 120cm and were sponsored by JS Horsetrucks. The dressage classes were sponsored by Hannah Dillion Master Saddler, Ark Equine, Glas Equine, Premier Performance, TRI Equestrian and Botanica.
Killcarrick had a Best Turned Out prize for each ring, which was hotly-contested by all, but none could beat the sparkle of Champagne Sparkles, owned and ridden by Caroline Moody, who won the Ring 1 prize. Alison Lawford and Pegasus Og won the Ring 2 prize and Alison Doyle on her Lackamore Need for Speed won the prize in the show jumping arena.
The overall leagues are sponsored by Sandstorm Equestrian (Show jumping) and Furey Consulting (Dressage) and Anglesey Lodge Equine Hospital (Dressage). The AIRC West Leinster League continues through the months of April and May.
