THE Newtownards-headquartered company Glenallen Homes continued its sponsorship of the best turned-out horse award in each of the hunter classes at the recent Balmoral Show and in the two ladies’ astride classes.
As selected by hunter judges Louise Daly and Paul Kinane, the four-year-old weight winners were Amanda Benson’s Masquerade (heavy), Nancy Millburn’s class winner Ballykealy Rocky (middle) and Graham Manson’s Dunraven Cleo (light). In the same order among the older horses the winners were Debbie Harrod’s BBK Flynn, Florence Brown’s A Hero’s Welcome and Jason Dunphy’s Vivas Star.
In the small hunter section, the best turned-out horse in the four and five-year-old class was judged as being Danielle McKeown’s Lotties Babybelle while Rosemary Wentges was presented with the award in the older horses’ class on board Socks And Sandals.
The hunter classes were held on the opening day of the show in Horse Ring 1 where, the following morning, the ladies’ astride classes were judged by Denise Colebrooke and Amy Kinane.
Their winners of the best turned-out awards were Regina Daly’s Caravilla Enough Said, who was second in the four-and five-year-old class before, later that day, being crowned champion lightweight and reserve supreme champion, and Amory McMahon’s Woodfieldfarm Balloo.
