CORK may have halted Limerick’s bid for a seventh straight Munster hurling title last weekend, however it was Twinfort that triumphed for the Treaty County in The Irish Field Teams of 3 Dressage class.

The trio of Ann Glynn (Shanaclough Seattle), Tara Dalton (Burgomistr) and Owen Smyth (Dark Site) scored 212.22% to retain their 2024 title. The Co Limerick-based club, with chairperson Dorothy Tynan and trainer Donie McNamara present in Mullingar, chalked up two further dressage successes.

Glynn and the 13-year-old Waldo van Dungen mare Shanaclough Seattle won the Seniors class on a 75.00% total. Owen Smyth and his 21-year-old Hanoverian gelding Dark Site were awarded a winning total of 74.46% by judge Jane Averill to claim top spot in the Veteran Horse class.

Mullingar RC’s secretary Niamh Macken led a very successful weekend for their members at the festival. Niamh won the novice dressage class on 71.73%. “We have 36 members and I’m delighted the club has done so well here,” said Niamh. “Really pleased to win the overall leading Irish Draught dressage award for the third time. Diamond King Henry is a 10-year-old heavyweight and we were fourth in that showing class and fourth in the pairs dressage to add to our win in the novice class.”
