MANY congratulations to Kircubbin event rider Hollie O’Flynn and Co Down hurler Conor Woods who were married last Friday in Nun’s Quarter with their reception being held in the Clandeboye Lodge Hotel.

“It was a brilliant day and I’m just sad that it’s all over,” said Hollie who was left alone in her new home in Cloughey on Monday while Conor, who had been allowed miss Thursday’s training session, headed off to a match.

Although the couple lived within a poc fada’s distance of one another throughout their lives, they only became an item at college, Hollie attending Jordanstown while Conor went to Queen’s. “That was seven years ago,” said Hollie who works in the office of the First Minister and Deputy First Minister at Stormont while her new husband is a civil engineer.

“As Conor still has some hurling commitments, we’re just heading up to the Radisson in Limavady for a couple of days this week but are going on honeymoon to Thailand in January. It will then be time for me to get Clonmorans Skyrofino ready for the season. Conor is not really interested in horses but I’m still working on it!”

Hollie had four bridesmaids for her wedding including fellow event rider Sarah Moore and Conor’s sister Ciara while her brother Ryan was an usher. Also in the wedding party were the bride’s parents Karen and Eamonn and their counterparts, Dermot and Brigid Woods. On leaving the church, the couple had a guard of honour comprised of hurley-wielding teammates of the groom.

Among the guests from the equestrian world were Gary Lowry, Trevor Smith, Raymond Bready, Elaine Gardener and Leonard, Marian and Michael Cave.
