FANS of Razzle Dazzle Girl will be saddened to hear the O’Brien family lost their prolific winner last week.

Bred in Gorey by Eleanor Kinsella, ‘Crystal’ arrived in Adare on her owner Suzanne’s 21st birthday in 2008 and the Ghareeb mare went on to clock up numerous championships since with her and sister, Lyndsey.

Known for her diva-like presence in the showring, the lovely grey was third in the small riding horse class at Dublin last year and was in winning form already this season with championship wins at Tralee and Midleton.

Sadly the Cork show proved to be her swansong appearance as the mare colicked last Thursday and despite surgery, couldn’t be saved. “She was part of the family and will be a hard act to follow,” said Suzanne, who also thanked their veterinary surgeons and the Fethard Equine Hospital staff for their assistance last week.
