ONE foal who caught a lot of attention at summer shows in the west this season was John Lindsey’s Sligo Candy Boy filly foal who racked up wins and top placings at both Ballinrobe and Mountbellew Agricultural Shows.

By Padraig Howley’s popular sire out of a Good Touch mare (by Touchdown), the foal shone to take the Foy Perpetual Champion Trophy at Ballinrobe where the mare and foal were judged 50-50 and the foal also won the Lanigan Trophy at Ballinrobe as well. At Ballinrobe, competition was strong with over nine mares and foals forward.

More was to come when the breeder entered the foal at Mountbellew Agricultural Show where his filly came second in the All Ireland Warmblood Foal Championships against more stiff competition from 13 forward.
