THE North West Ireland Association of Welsh Pony and Cob Society are running their fourth annual overseas Medal Show on May 21st at Upper Mace Equestrian Centre, Barnacarroll, Claremorris, Co. Mayo.

Gillian Sells from Britain’s Priestwood Stud will judge the Welsh Medal classes. There are classes for all sections of the Welsh Stud Book.

The show is affiliated to the Irish Pony Society and will run a full schedule of IPS classes.

There are also classes for family type horses and ponies. Entries for the Welsh classes must be catalogued and close strictly on May 14th. Entries in the other sections will be accepted up to and including show day, but discounts do apply for pre-entries.

Hunting race day

THE Hunting Association of Ireland will again be having their hunting race day on the opening day, Tuesday, April 25th, at the Punchestown Festival. It should prove to be exciting racing with the featured race being the BoyleSport Champion Chase. There will be a parade of hounds between races.

Tickets are again available at the very reasonable price of €20, which includes admission to the reserved enclosure. Tickets may be purchased through PayPal off the Irish Masters of Foxhounds website www.imfha.ie. The first race starts at 3.40pm. All enquiries to David Lalor at 087 2542114.
