IF it was a week earlier or later, the bride, groom and guests would not have had such smiles on their faces. However, the wedding day of popular couple Victoria Clarke and Niall Mullen dawned with bright sunshine in the beautiful village of Strangford, Co Down.

The day was kindly hosted by Peter and Sian Maxwell at the Old Court Wedding Chapel, an idyllic venue deep into their estate. The church sits on the waters edge and all who attended were amazed by the stunning views and facilities.

This much anticipated wedding on October 12th last did not disappoint, with its autumnal theme including carved pumpkins, berries and straw bales. The church was resplendent with flowers by Linda Marshall. Every detail was thought through, with stirrups adorned with flowers draped over the pew ends and a vintage golf bag and saddle resting on a bale at the entrance to the church, nodding at the couples occupations of golf and equestrian professionals.

The very gracious Dean Henry Hull conducted the ceremony and guests were treated to beautiful singing by Karen Glass, soprano of the Ulster Operatic Society. The organist was Winifred Ambrose.

Victoria was treated to the surprise arrival of her old companion Arubahrain (Ruby) with whom she won the young riders’ championship in Dublin in 2009 and 2010.

Young Cocker Spaniel Fergie, the latest addition to the family, was also on hand for photographs. When the formal proceedings ended, everyone walked the short distance to the fantastic giant yurt-type reception building where they were treated to fantastic canapes and cocktails. The catering was supplied by the wonderful Jacqui and Kevin from White Horse Catering and they and their excellent staff fed the revellers until after midnight with gourmet food – they even fired up the BBQ for evening guests to enjoy ‘burgers to die for’.

Cruising

Speeches, chat and dancing to the Just Adam Band meant the day continued with joy and thankfulness for being able to celebrate the union of such an amazing couple. Niall got off to a good start with his wife by passing her a ‘scratch card’ which revealed the honeymoon is going to be a Caribbean cruise in November. Then of course, the happy couple get their Stetsons on in December when they travel to the finals of the world-famous Rodeo in Las Vegas.

Everyone wishes Mr and Mrs Mullen all the best for a long and happy life together. The couple would like to thank everyone for their support during the build up to the wedding day and for their attendance which helped make the occasion so special.
